National Battery Day is commemorated on February 18 of every year. National Battery Day is dedicated to all the batteries that we use in our everyday lives. Today we cant even find someone in the world who doesn’t use a Battery. Cells become a part of our daily life, from cars to mobile phones we use batteries for everything. In this modern world, we are easily accessible to portable electricity, we use portable chargers, or we use the Batteries in our cars for charging mobiles phone batteries etc.

In a battery, I strive to maximize electrical potential. When mentoring, I strive to maximize human potential.” – Donald Sadoway.

History of National Battery Day

Benjamin Franklin invented the term battery first, but the version we use nowadays was generated by an Italian physicist named Allesandro Volta. National Battery Day is celebrated on his birth anniversary and it honours all the batteries. A battery helps to convert chemical energy into an electrical current by bringing various chemicals together in a specific order. When we order the chemicals correctly, then the electrons will move from one compound to another chemical creating electricity. Initially, batteries are only used in radio, flashlight, and watch. Just in the last 50 to 60 years, batteries are manufactured for everyday personal use. Nowadays batteries are available for too many purposes, and we can’t even imagine a day without batteries.
