Атестаційна робота з іноземної мови проводиться в письмовій формі і перевіряє словниковий запас школярів, а також ступінь оволодіння мовою. Для учнів звичайних шкіл завдання повинні відповідати рівню А2+, а для дев’ятикласників, представляють спеціалізовані школи – В1. Квиток ДПА з іноземної мови складається з трьох частин:
читання – учням пропонуються тексти публіцистичного характеру, особиста або офіційний лист, оголошення, реклама, розклад, меню, рецепт або телепрограма. Після читання тексту потрібно буде виконати завдання по ньому – це може бути тест з вибором вірної відповіді, добір логічних пар, запитання з короткими відповіді, завдання на встановлення порядку слів, знаходження аргументів та встановлення зв’язків між інформаційними блоками;
використання мовних навичок – у цій частині школяра чекають тести, що передбачають коротку відповідь. Вони виявляють ступінь оволодіння лексикою, граматикою і семантикою. Завдання повинні бути складені з текстів різного обсягу і складності, а їх контекст – торкатися побутових ситуацій. Це може бути завдання, якому потрібно вставити пропущене слово або вибрати варіант відповіді;
лист – тут учням треба показати, наскільки добре вони оволоділи навичками письмової комунікації. Школярі будуть писати текст, спираючись на підказки у вигляді оголошень, листів, повідомлень, реклами, картинок, фотографій, таблиць або схем.
