https://happydays-365.com/fanny-pack-day/international-fanny-pack-day-march/

International Fanny Pack Day is celebrated on March 10th of this year. It is an annual observance observed on the second Saturday of every March. Those who are feeling difficult to carry a purse or wallet can just opt for the fanny pack as it just sticks around your hip or waist. The Fanny Pack’s are considered to be one of the most fashionable accessories of 1980’s. People used it to keep various things in the fanny packs, and it served well as you need to keep an eye on your wallet that stays on your back. International Fanny Pack Day not only celebrates the fanny packs but it also aims to portray a clear picture of one social issue called hungry. So it’s time to fill up your fanny packs with some food items to offer it to those homeless and needy.

“Unlike curing cancer or heart disease, we already know how to beat hunger: food.” – Mario Batali

History of International Fanny Pack Day

The International Fanny Pack Day has been in celebration since the year 2007. Nick Yates was the person who has come up with this idea and created this celebration Day. The Fanny Pack Day was held on the first Saturday of March in 2007. However, second Saturday of every March is marked as the International Fanny Pack Day since 2008. Nick Yates has desired to create this holiday after a random meeting he had with a homeless man once after a Christmas party. At the Christmas party in Portland, Oregon, Yates had received a fanny pack and fruitcake as gag gifts. As to keep the fruitcake safer, Yates has kept it inside the fanny pack and set off for the bus stop. While on his way, a homeless man said him that the fanny pack looks nice. Yates thanked him and unzipped the fanny pack and handed him the food. Although the homeless man wasn’t amazed at the fruitcake, this made Yates establish a connection between the fanny pack and helping those hungry people. Thus he had contacted the food banks to get the movement started and continued to hand out some food while wearing the fanny pack. He has created International Fanny Pack Day in 2007 and from then on, the holiday has been observed in about seven countries.

National Middle Name Pride Day is celebrated on March 9th of this year. It is an annual celebration held on the Friday of the first full week of every March. Few things in the world cannot be chosen by one’s own and that is called as destiny. It may be anything like human birth, parents, and of course the name of yours. As soon as a baby is born, every parent gets into the situation to choosing the right name. There would be so many discussions, debates and choices when it comes to naming. Some of you would have found your name beautiful, and some people also feel that the name could be better. In either case, most people hide their middle name. Many don’t know the actual reason for their middle name. It is that middle name that distinguishes you from one another with the same name. So you are prohibited from hiding your middle name as it is National Middle Name Pride Day.

“If I’m gonna tell a real story, I’m gonna start with my name.” – Kendrick Lamar

The National Middle Name Pride Day has been first celebrated the year 1997. Since then the Friday of the first full week of every March marks this observance. The middle name is often selected to honour a friend or relative as that person may have possessed certain special characteristics that the parents want you to inherit on their child.

National Middle Name Pride Day

Different countries have different traditions of following the middle name.  A middle name may have the mother’s maiden name in some countries. The forename of a relative is also sometimes used as one’s middle name to honour the familial heritage. Middle names could also be either the given names or surnames. The history of the middle names is still a debated concept in the English-speaking countries. But the practice of using the middle name is found to be occurring by the late 17th century among royalty and aristocracy which was exemplified in the name of the Stuart pretender James Francis Edward Stuart. Since 1905, “middle name” has also received a figurative usage meaning with distinguished or outstanding characteristics of any person, as mentioned in the phrase “discretion is my middle name.”
